Festival Initiative

The Lamar Street Festival celebrates the 100-year anniversary of the historic South Side on Lamar Building in Dallas, TX. Originally the Sears, Roebuck & Co. building, South Side on Lamar was turned into landmark urban residences and business lofts in 1997. The community has been the anchor for urban renewal in the area ever since. The festival invites North Texans to see what lies beneath and beyond the iconic neon sign that has welcomed travelers to the south side of downtown for over a decade.

Mission

The Lamar Street Festival’s mission is to showcase the beauty and creativity of the Cedars South Side neighborhood, its businesses and its residents and to nurture artful and economic relationships with all surrounding communities. South Side on Lamar has, since its inception, celebrated and encouraged an inclusive demographic of creative artists, professionals, musicians, educators and established businesses. The authentic diversity of the Cedars South Side neighborhood is an asset for the city as it seeks to continue bridging the verve of downtown with sustainable and equitable business and community engagement in South Dallas.

Support

With support from GuideLIVE, the City of Dallas, the Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau, Downtown Dallas Inc, the Cedars Neighborhood Association, and The Cedars Open Studios, the Lamar Street Festival is a collaborative community event.

ATTENDANCE:

$5.00 CASH entry fee for adults. Children 12 and under are free to attend. The festival is CASH ONLY. There will be ATMs on site.

TICKET INFORMATION:

Tickets available at the Lamar Street gate one hour prior to festival start time.

IN & OUT:

Festival guests will be allowed to go in and out from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to experience the Cedars Open Studios and nearby neighborhood destinations. After 7:00 p.m., NO In & Out, unless you purchase a ticket to re-enter.

TICKET POLICIES:

Lost or stolen tickets will not be reissued the day of the festival. All ticket sales are final. No refunds and no exchanges.

DIRECTIONS

Lamar Street Festival is easily accessible from I-30, I-45, I-35 and I-75. The festival footprint is blocks south of the Omni Dallas Hotel and the Dallas Convention Center and is directly in front of the NYLO Hotel. (Link to map or thumbnail of the map.)

PARKING

$10.00 CASH paid parking is available immediately adjacent to the festival. Go to (link) for map of available parking during the
festival.

DART

The Lamar Street Festival is conveniently one block from the Cedars DART Rail Station. Please visit dart.org for a complete list of bus and rail schedules and fares.

BIKE VALET

Richardson Bike Mart will be providing bike valet and free bike rentals for the day. Festival guests may cycle to the event and park for free. Located at the Belleview Street Festival Entrance the bike valet will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Bikes remain in a secure area where valets wipe down bikes and check tires before locking them up. NEARBY DESTINATIONS

Walking tours and transportation will allow visitors to explore the Cedars Open Studios and nearby destinations not within the festival footprint.


ACCESSIBLE SERVICES

Festival grounds are wheelchair-accessible. The Festival does not provide personal care, golf cart rides, or push service. Wheelchair guests should plan ahead and bring attendants if needed.

ACCESSIBLE PARKING

Disabled-designated parking is available on a first-come, first serve basis. You must have a State-issued placard issued to you in order to park in handicapped reserved parking spaces. Placards and identification must match and will be checked.

ACCESSIBLE SEATING

The main stage has a special section for people who use wheelchairs (or who have mobility limitations) and can accommodate one companion. Please check with Security for the location. Accessible restrooms are available throughout the grounds.

RAIN OR SHINE

The festival is a rain or shine event. Short or light periods of rain may delay the festival but entertainment will stay on schedule as much as possible. Serious weather may conclude event.

SECURITY & SAFETY

On-site security will be provided by local law enforcement agencies and private security personel. Emergency
medical staff will be available on site.


ITEMS ALLOWED ONSITE

Guests and their belongings are subject to search upon entry. Guests are encouraged to leave large bags at home.

You may bring the in the following items:
    • Empty Plastic Water Bottle
    • Umbrellas (small hand-held style)
    • Binoculars
    • Personal camera equipment (i.e. small digital cameras or point-and-click 35mm cameras). Cameras with any type of detachable lenses are prohibited.

ITEMS NOT ALLOWED ONSITE


The following items are prohibited:
    • Weapons of any kind including concealed handguns
    • Illegal substances (including narcotics) or drug paraphernalia
    • Framed or large backpacks
    • Alcohol (alcohol will be sold at the Festival)
    • Glass containers
    • Food or beverages
    • Skateboards, scooters, bicycles, or personal motorized vehicles
    • Large chains or spiked jewelry
    • Fireworks
    • Explosives
    • Large umbrellas
    • Chairs
    • Blankets
    • Coolers
    • Video equipment: (except smart phones)
    • Professional still camera equipment (no detachable lenses, no tripods, big zooms, or commercial use rigs)
    • Audio recording equipment (except smart phones)
    • No illegal vending is permitted. No unauthorized/unlicensed vendors allowed.
    • No unauthorized/unlicensed vendors allowed. Any confiscated prohibited items will not be returned.


Pet Policy

Well-trained socialized pets are welcome to the festival. While pets will not be turned away, pet owners are responsible and liable for their pets at all times. Pet owners also need to be prepared for the additional needs of pets and are welcome to use the adjacent South Side Bark Park. We reserve the right to ask any pet or pet owner to leave or not gain admittance to the Festival.

FESTIVAL PURCHASES

There are ATMs inside the event grounds (with applicable service fees), and some vendors accept credit cards (such as the Festival Merchandise tent).

RESTROOMS

Festival restrooms are located near the main stage and the interactive zone.

LOST AND FOUND

During the Festival, look for lost items at the Lost & Found at the main entrance on Lamar Street. After the Festival, you can inquire about lost items at lamarstreetfestival@gmail.com or call 214.856.0573. Valuables will be held for 30 days. Southside Plaza Management, Inc., will not be held liable for any unclaimed items.
FOOD & DRINKS: All food and beverage purchases are CASH only. ATM Machines are located conveniently throughout the festival.

    Is there a place to sit and watch the music? We cant take chairs? Can we take blankets or yoga mats?
